Submission for the 2016 Skopje Poster Competition
The brief for this competition required that a poster be created to represent the concept of ‘Identity in Crisis’. I chose to focus on artificial intelligence and how this is affecting the sense of identity for the human race; since the first automated mechanical objects, people have worried that they would be replaced by machines. Seeing human physical attributes, such as a heart or veins presented in a cold, electronic way challenges our perception of what it means to be human, and is a jarring reminder of what the future could hold. I tried illustrative and photographic iterations of this idea, but my final solution is completely typographic; as the heart is represented in binary code, I though it would strengthen the concept to have veins in the form of a circuit board connecting to the heart, and to only use type to further detract from the human element.
